Volusia County Jail Roster and the Division of Corrections
Volusia County correctional custody is handled by the Volusia County Division of Corrections. The county is clear on one point: this division is separate from the Volusia Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff handles law enforcement, arrests, civil process, criminal registration, and public-records requests. Corrections manages the two county jail facilities, runs the inmate inquiry portal, and oversees booking, classification, visitation, and inmate services. The Corrections Director is Joseph DeMore. Knowing this distinction matters when you need to call about bond information, a charge question, or a case status update, because the right phone number depends on which office has what you need.
The public inmate search tool lives at volusiamug.vcgov.org. It is the only official Volusia County source for current jail custody status. The portal covers both county facilities. A Recent button on the search page shows the most recent bookings without entering a name. An "Include Archive Records in Search" checkbox lets you pull older bookings that have been moved to archive status, which is useful for confirming someone was in custody on a past date or checking prior booking history.
The roster does not include people held by the Florida Department of Corrections on a state sentence, federal inmates held in Bureau of Prisons facilities, or people detained by immigration authorities. Those searches use different tools. See released inmates for state and federal locator links.
The Volusia County inmate inquiry portal shown below is the starting point for any jail roster search.
The search form accepts a last name, first name, or booking number, and a checkbox adds archive records to the results.
How to Search the Volusia County Inmate Roster
The inmate inquiry portal is simple to use. You do not need an account or login. The steps below walk through a typical name search. If you already have a booking number, you can skip to step three and enter it directly in the Booking # field for a faster, exact-match result.
- Go to volusiamug.vcgov.org. The search form loads on the main page with fields for Last Name, First Name, and Booking #.
- Type the person's last name in the Last Name field. Adding a first name narrows results if the last name is common. Leave both blank and click Recent to see the most recent bookings without entering a name.
- If you have the six-digit booking number, enter it in the Booking # field. This returns an exact match and is the fastest search method.
- Check the "Include Archive Records in Search" box if you are looking for someone booked more than a few weeks ago or want to see prior booking history. Leave it unchecked for current-custody results only.
- Click Search. A results list appears with matching names and basic booking data. Click a name to open the full inmate profile.
- On the profile page, review mugshot, booking date, charges, bond amounts, and booking history. If the Release Date field is blank, the person is still in custody.
Note: If a search returns no results and you believe the person should be in custody, try adding the archive checkbox or call the Branch Jail Booking Office at (386) 254-1555, which is staffed 24 hours a day.
Volusia County Inmate Inquiry Search Fields
The portal keeps the form short. None of the text fields are strictly required as long as you fill in at least one. A booking number gives the most precise result. The table below lists every field on the Volusia inmate inquiry form.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes / Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Optional | Search current or archived inmate records by last name. Can be used alone or combined with First Name. |
| First Name | Text | Optional | Narrows a name search. Use with Last Name to reduce results for common surnames. |
| Booking # | Text | Optional | Six-digit booking number. Used for visitation scheduling and returns an exact-match result when known. |
| Include Archive Records in Search | Checkbox | Optional | Adds archived booking records to the results. Useful for past bookings or confirmed-release checks. |
| Search | Button | n/a | Runs the search with the entered criteria. |
| Cancel | Button | n/a | Clears the form and cancels a search in progress. |
| Recent | Button | n/a | Shows recent bookings without entering any search criteria. No name or number required. |
What a Volusia County Inmate Profile Shows
Each inmate profile page pulls from the live booking record. The profile inspected in May 2026 showed a public mugshot image, personal identifiers, charge rows with statute details and bond figures, and a section for booking history. Some sections appear on every profile but may have no entries for a given person, such as Alias Information and Scars, Marks, and Tattoos. The profile does not show pod, cell, floor, housing assignment, court date, or judicial officer. Users who need a court date should check the Clerk's case inquiry portals or call jail case management at (386) 254-1548.
A sample inmate profile from the Volusia inmate inquiry is shown below, illustrating how booking data and charge information are displayed.
The charge table on the profile includes statute numbers, bond type, bond amount, and both arrest and court case numbers for each charge row.

Volusia County Jail Facilities and Capacity
Volusia County operates two jail facilities, both off U.S. 92 roughly four miles west of I-95 in Daytona Beach. They are next to each other but serve different inmate populations. If you need to post bond or attend a First Appearance hearing, you go to the Branch Jail. Bond posting does not happen at the Correctional Facility. Both facilities are managed by the Volusia County Division of Corrections, and both feed into the same online inmate inquiry portal.
The Branch Jail holds pretrial detainees, state-sentenced males, and medium-to-high-custody non-sentenced males. Its design capacity is 899. The Correctional Facility holds county-sentenced inmates, low-to-medium-custody non-sentenced males, and all female inmates. Its design capacity is 595. The combined design capacity of the two facilities is 1,494. In 2024, the average daily population across both facilities was 1,345, which is about 90 percent of combined design capacity. Booking and Bond in Volusia County
After an arrest in Volusia County, the person is brought to the Branch Jail at 1300 Red John Drive for booking. Intake includes identity verification, charge entry, property storage, and a basic health screening. The inmate receives hygiene items and is assigned to a housing unit. Personal property goes to ID/Receiving and is stored until release. The jail is non-smoking; tobacco products cannot be purchased or possessed. All inmates are subject to search under Florida Model Jail Standards.
First Appearance hearings are held at the Branch Jail, not at the DeLand courthouse. This is the first court event after arrest, and bond is typically set at this hearing. Anyone may post bond at the Branch Jail, in cash or through a licensed bondsman. The Booking Office at (386) 254-1555 is open 24 hours a day and can answer questions about charges, bond amounts, and the booking process. For questions specifically about booking, bonding, and charges, the direct line is (386) 254-1540.
A newly booked inmate may show up in the online roster before visitation is possible. The initial 72 hours of incarceration restrict visitation, and any visit during that window must be approved by the Operations Supervisor. This is because the first three days involve classification, housing assignments, court appearances, and medical evaluations. The profile will show the person online, but a visit will not be available right away.
Effective April 29, 2024, inmates are not released between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. unless a responsible party is physically on site to transport the person off county jail property and checks in with facility Control. If a release is expected outside that window, someone needs to be present at the Branch Jail.
Bond Scam Warning for Volusia County Inmates
The Volusia County Division of Corrections warns that fraudulent callers and texters have claimed to be bondsmen or jail staff and asked for money to bond out a loved one. This is a scam. No one from the Volusia County Division of Corrections will ever call or text to solicit a bond payment on behalf of an inmate. Bond is posted directly at the Branch Jail Booking Office, in person, in cash or through a licensed bondsman.
If someone contacts you and asks for payment via Zelle, PayPal, Cash App, Bitcoin, or any other money-transfer or digital payment method to secure an inmate's release, it is very likely a fraud attempt. Do not send money. Call the Branch Jail Booking Office directly at (386) 254-1555 to verify the person's custody status and actual bond amount before taking any action.

Note: IC Solutions handles both appointment scheduling and attorney video visits, but residents scheduling a personal visit and attorneys setting up legal video access each follow a different account flow on the IC Solutions platform.

Contraband includes weapons, prescription or illegal drugs, over-the-counter medication, and tobacco.
Drop boxes for fund deposits are located in the facility and visitation lobbies. These accept money orders and certified checks addressed to specific inmates. For additional commissary needs beyond what can be funded this way, inmates can purchase items through commissary after funds are on account.
